This means that a policy that has been in existence for more than three years will be considered lapsed if the premium remains unpaid for over twelve months.

Action: If your policy status shows as lapsed, you need to revive it through a medical process. You can pay the revival amount either as a lump sum or in a maximum of 36 monthly installments.


2. PLI Policy  status InForce or Active:- 

This refers to a policy for which all the due premiums have been regularly paid, and the policy has not become ‘void’ or ‘lapsed’ under any rule of the Post Office Insurance Fund Rules.  This should be your policy status always.


3. PLI Policy Status is Void:-

This term applies to a policy with a duration of less than three years, and if any premium(s) that have become due are not paid either on the first day of the month for which the premium is due or within the grace period.

Action: This means the Premium is not paid or the premium is due but the policy still has not lapsed. No need for formal revival.

The premium for such a policy can be paid by providing a good health certificate immediately and after making payment policy status will be changed as Active. 

4. PLI Policy Status is Void lapsed:-

This refers to a policy with a duration of less than three years, and if any premium(s) that have become due are not paid for more than six months from the due date.

Action: You need to revive your policy through a medical process i.e Formal revival is required to activate the policy.
